We invite Expressions of Interest from early career researchers who wish to be sponsored for establishing an independent research group, as an externally funded research fellow.

 

Research Fellowships offered for sponsorship include:

Wellcome Trust Career Development Awards, MRC CDA, UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships, CRUK Career Development Fellowship, Royal Society URF

 

What we are looking for

Successful candidates will have an outstanding track record in an area that is broadly aligned to the Department's research interests and fits within its five broad research themes: Cell Biology, Development and Genetics; Chromosomal and RNA Biology; Infection and Disease Processes; Microbiology and Systems Biology; Structural Biology, Computational Biology and Molecular Biophysics.

Assessment process

Shortlisted candidates will present a seminar to Group Leaders in the Department followed by a discussion with members of the Interview Panel. Members of the Interview Panel will be aware of the principles of equality of opportunity, fair selection, and the risks of bias. Successful candidates will be provided with comprehensive support from the Departmental Research Facilitator and appropriate Group Leaders for the preparation of their Fellowship application.

 

How to apply:

Expression of Interest (8 pages max) should include:

  • Brief CV, including a list of your publications
  • Outline of your intended research programme (up to two pages max)
  • Details of how your research fits within the research themes of the Department and why you would like to work in the Department
  • Proposed scheme for which you are eligible
  • Brief outline of the budgets required for your proposed programme
  • Brief description of any unusual requirements for laboratory space and facilities
  • Confidential supporting statements from at least two referees who know your research well - please see further details below.

If, for any reason, you have taken a career break or have had an atypical career and wish to disclose this in your application, the interview panel will take this into account.

A minimum of two references are required for this call. Applicants are responsible for requesting references from their referees. Referees should submit references directly to: recruitfellows@bioch.ox.ac.uk by the closing date of 15th July 2024 .

Applicants should therefore give referees enough time to write and provide their support. The Department will not request references directly from the referees.
